We Have Fun

Cub Scouting is for boys from 1st through 5th grade. Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to

      1. offer positive influence for their character development
      2. encourage their spiritual growth
      3. help them develope habits and attitudes of good citizenship
      4. encourage good sportsmanship and confidence, to aid their mental and physical growth
      5. improve mutual understanding within the family unit
      6. strengthen their social manners and respect for other people
      7. foster a sense of achievement by heping them to develope broader interests and new skills
      8. show them the importance of being helpful and doing their best
      9. provide fun and exciting activites for them
      10. prepare them for Boy Scouts program

Weblos Scouts are for 4th and 5th grade boys. They are the senior Cub Scouts in a Pack. They and their adult leaders enjoy camping activities and are introduced to basic outdoor living skills. Weblos perform community service and work toward earning the highest award in Cub Scouting, "Arrow of Light". This program is designed as a transition from Cub Scouting to Boy Scouts program. Weblos dens meet once a month, attend monthly Pack activities, and go on lots of fun outdoor adventures.

To help new Cub Scouts' families understand Pack 452's framework, the Pack Committee has created a Parent Information material. This material was an effort to reduce confusions and conflicts. Cub Scouting is a family program,
and requires parents to volunteer. As with any family program, both the parents and the boys will benefit from Cub Scouting. In Cub Scouting jargon, parents and Adult Leaders are known as "Akela".

Our children grow up much too quickly. Let us enjoy our time with them while we have the opportunity, and let us help them grow as they go through the stages of Cub Scouting, from Tiger Cubs, to Wolf, to Bear, to Weblos, and earning the "Arrow of Light".

It takes a partnership of parents and Adult Leaders to help our boys attain these ranks. Take the time to help your child. For most achievements, it's as simple as reading to your child or listening to him read.

About Us

Cub Scout Pack 452 was established in 1991, largely through the efforts of Commissioner Silas Jue. We are registered with Boy Scouts of America, Santa Clara County Council. The council's office is located at 970 W. Julian Street, San Jose, CA, or can be reached via phone at (408) 280-5088. The county is divided into several districts. We are in Polaris District, which covers Sunnyvale, Cupertino & Saratoga.

Pack 452 is sponsored by the Chinese American Scouting Association ( CASA ). For year 2000, CASA's Chairman designated Mr. Silas Jue as its representative. Having CASA as our sponsor helps us recruit from various Chinese Schools in Silicon Valley.
